| Tim
Tabernik, HTA President, has 28 years of
experience as an administrator, program planner and
developer, and fundraiser in education, behavioral
health, child welfare, and juvenile justice. He is a
skilled group facilitator, trainer, strategic and
tactical planner, and grant and technical writer. As a
grant writer, Tim has helped numerous public and private
entities obtain funding from public and private sources,
raising over $25,000,000
Tim has a long history of involvement in community
planning and collaboration as well as extensive
experience providing technical assistance to
after-school and other school-linked services. He has
also assisted public health care, social services and
criminal justice agencies and private institutions to
develop strategic plans and implement innovative
programs.
As executive director of the non-profit Full Circle
Programs in San Rafael, California, Tim developed and
managed budgets in excess of $4,000,000 and supervised a
staff of over 100 professional, technical, and
classified personnel.
Randy Malat, M.A., M.S., HTA’s
staff grant writer, has written successful grant
proposals that have raised over $22
million in funding for school districts, city
and county governments, and non-profit organizations
in the Bay Area since 2001. These grants have
been for a variety of educational, youth development,
social service, and criminal justice programs
sponsored by public and private funders. Before
coming to HTA, Randy worked as an editor and
writer in the health/medical field, journalist,
and educator. He has an extensive publishing
history as author and editor of non-fiction
books, newspaper articles, and on-line content,
and is fluent in Spanish. Randy’s educational
background is in journalism (M.S., University
of Oregon) and history (M.A., UCLA, and B.A.,
U.C. Berkeley).
Jayne Williams, M.A., HTA’s
staff grantwriter, has written successful grant
proposals in the Bay Area since 1996 raising over $10
million in funding for city governments, workforce
investment organizations, and non-profit organizations.
These grants have been for a variety of experiential
education programs, job training, labor market research,
and school-to-career initiatives sponsored by public and
private funders. Before coming to HTA, Jayne worked at
NOVA, a nationally-recognized workforce organization in
Silicon Valley, where she was involved in strategic
planning, quality initiatives, and marketing, as well as
writing grants. Jayne’s educational background is in
Russian language and literature (B.A., Harvard
University, M.A., University of California, Berkeley).
She is also a published author in the field of health
and fitness.
Jamie Harris, Ed.M. has several
years of experience in community-school partnerships and
after school programs, with expertise in grant writing,
evaluation, program coordination, family support, and
training. Her recent grant writing successes include:
Comprehensive School Reform for West Contra Costa
Unified School District; 21st Century Community Learning
Center for Berkeley Unified; and Early Learning
Opportunities Act for Marin Child Care Commission. She
previously served as a site coordinator for a
"full-service" school collaboration in the Boston public
schools for three years. Ms. Harris has also been a
public school teacher and residential treatment center
staff in San Francisco. She has master's degree in
education from Harvard University, an undergraduate
degree in sociology from U.C. Santa Cruz, and is fluent
in
Spanish.
